Trampolines For Fun and Fitness

At one time, trampolines were a piece of "professional" equipment that you only saw at athletic venues or entertainment centers. But today, many homes have a trampoline, not only for fun, but to keep fit as well. Sales are soaring as they become a handy and inexpensive way to get exercise for all ages.

Larger trampolines are used in schools and athletic or entertainment centers, where it is possible to pay for a specified period of use, or where you can actually take lessons in trampoline safety and techniques. These are the type where more than one person may be on it at once, but they also require "spotters", people who are trained in watching for behaviors or actions that may cause injury to an individual, or others that are using the equipment.

However, the largest jump in sales, has taken place in the home trampoline category, where you can get medium sized ones for the back yard, or even small ones known as "rebounders". Not only are they fun for the entire family, they provide a healthy and safe way to get gentle exercise, without the impact on foot and leg joints that jogging would cause.

Whichever trampoline you choose to buy, remember that safety comes first. Make sure children get instruction if possible, and that responsible or trained adults are present during use, or until a child learns the proper ways to have fun without getting hurt.
